Is honesty the best policy?
Sometimes a white lie is needed, isn’t it? But when does bending the truth hurt you and your friends? What happens if your friend’s outfit is not that cool?
Yes it does sometimes happen. Not everyone can look stylish all the damn time, so cut your friend some slack and she’ll ride the wave of learning from her mistakes. Of course if she directly asks you then don’t blatantly lie, rather suggest something else that might look better. Where you do need to step in is when she may be showing a little too much of the good stuff.
What happens if your friend has weight problems?
Weight is always a touchy subject, I mean, what is the perfect weight anyway? Hormones means bloating and extreme eating habits so bear with those time periods, excuse the pun. Also be careful not to impose your body image onto your friends. But if her weight starts to get to the stage where it becomes unhealthy then you might need to step in. Approach the subject carefully, there is no easy way to talk about it. And always encourage more than criticise, clearly point out her highlights. Remember to always be supportive no matter what the outcome is, whether it be in a practical or emotional way.
What happens if your friend’s boyfriend is a cheater.
This is an immediate tell all. Your loyalties are to your friend and she would way rather hear the truth from you than a stranger. When you do tell her don’t blurt it out and ramble on, speak gently and clearly and try have some ’facts’. She will probably be upset, so don’t get offended if there is a shouting match involved. Lying in this situation will only lead to accusations later on in your friendship so be honest from the beginning.
