Three ways to deal with rejection

Ah, the sting of rejection! It sucks. You put your heart into something and then you don’t get what you want. But don’t let it keep you down. Here are three ways to deal with rejection: Image Courtesy: Mia Simone Oelofse @www.art.swg.co.za
1. Learn from it and the pain will go away
Nothing happens by accident. Everything has a reason and it’s your duty to find out why it’s happening and what it can teach you so that you can grow. The payoff is that you’ll be wiser and stronger. Once you learn the lesson, the pain will disappear.
2. Keep perspective
It’s easy to get wrapped up in our own feelings and thoughts but try to see things objectively. Just because you got hurt, it doesn’t mean that you should try to prevent pain in future. Don’t think that the same situations are going to happen all the time. It’s just one incident that shouldn’t define you.
3. Forget about it
Okay, not thinking about it is easier said than done, but just think: often pain lasts a short while but then we choose to hold onto the suffering. Where’s the fun in that and why should you punish yourself for what happened to you? Distract yourself from the feeling of rejection and focus on something exciting to look forward to in your life. Before you know it, you’ll hardly remember what the pain felt like.
