DVD Review- House at the end of the street

2 Stars
Definitely only worth a DVD rental, this movie was shot before Jennifer Lawrence became hot property in Hollywood and for good reason. It’s a rather predictable thriller with a few commendable screams and scares. Lawrence does deliver a convincing performance though.
A mother and daughter move to a new house in a woody upscale suburb with the hope of new beginnings. The only thing is the house next door has a haunting story. The parents were killed by their daughter four years earlier, and the brother still lives there, alone.
Between a weak love story, one dimensional characters and the usual suspense music the movie delivers exactly what it promises- a DVD night in with the girls with some shrieks and yells. Just make sure there’s lots of popcorn to distract you when the movie sometimes dulls.
