Oh I do love me a bad boy: Silva
James Bond, or 007 as he’s affectionately known, is the brain child of writer Ian Fleming. I had to Google this piece of information; Wikipedia is your best friend. Yes I would fail a common pop culture quiz. Boo!The reason I had to google this information is that I’m not much of a bond fan — my most epic memory of the films is when Halle Berry jumped off of a cliff then emerged from the ocean in that tangerine bikini.
So with all this information you are probably wondering why I went to see Skyfall, twice! It has to do with a manic blond man who plays the villain in this installation the film series. Silva is a man who was done wrong by M and is seeking his revenge; he and 007 are also the last “rats” in the 00 program– watch the film, this analogy is ultra-creepy!
As not-much-of-a-Bond-fan I truly had no allegiance to the main character and was bored nearly to sleep by him but when Sliva came out of that elevator and onto the screen the film came alive – the pace quickened. He is funny and mad. He made me laugh while at times unsettling me.
Who knew the gorgeous Javier Bardem (husband to equally gorgeous and brilliant Penelope Cruz) could dirty up so well? I sure didn’t.
Do you have a favourite Bond villain?
