You are what you listen to.
The thing is, in reality, you don’t always know what to say, things hardly ever go as planned, you don’t always get what you want and at times words just don’t come out right.
That’s why lyrics mean so much to me.
That feeling when you write or hear a song, and it’s exactly how you feel, all your emotions jotted down on a piece of paper. The things you wish you said, the things you want to hear and the way you feel.
All of the things that scare us too much to say out loud.
As soon as you hear a song and can relate to it, it’s not just some randomly selected words for the sake of rhythm. It’s you.
I know that every single person has a different connection to a song. The words trigger different memories and different feelings. No one will feel exactly the same as the way the artist felt when he or she wrote the song, but that’s the beauty of it.
John Lennon said, ”music can change the world, because it can change people”
To me, listening to your favorite song is like a superpower, you get a do over.
You can turn back the clock to the first time you ever heard the song and you get to feel a certain way again, you get the feelings out there that you’re too afraid of saying directly.
It’s like magic and I love it.
