Nautical While this summer's navy and white striped fashion trend isn't a true take on navy inspired fashion, it's still likely to appeal to those who are in to the nautical aesthetic as well as every stylish fashionista out there looking for the next good buy. If that's you, and you're after some inspiration, then take a look at Anja Rubik's sailor fashion editorial. She has got it down to a T! Naturally, the 'natural inclination' for layering nautical pieces in an outfit, is to do so with complimentary colours (i.e.; read 'navy and white'). I can't fault that logic, but come on guys, a little creativity? Think stripes with floral prints or bright colours. The stripes don't have to dominate, but in a crowded room the look certainly will. Don't think of summer stripes as just a clothing trend: you can work them into any part of an outfit (just not all at once, please!). These uber chick second skins are the hottest trend for winter. Be sure to pick up a pair or two this season! and with just about everywhere catching on to this trend, there is a pair out there to suit every budget! Oh my satchel So if Bella can rock her backpack it must be worth a fashion mention, right? Thanks goodness for us ‘Weekenders' (as that is what they are calling backpacks now) are so far in fashion we almost missed the craze. So swap your tote for one of these handy and we might add fashionable satchels and enjoy the space, different compartments and easy to carry bags and get your Bella'ista on! Stripes Parisian inspired stripes are making their mark this winter. They're a great way to add some colour to your drab greys and blacks this chilly season. The striped tee is the easiest way to wear this look but if you're keen enough to translate it into skirts and pants that's also cool! A Bientot ; )

Studs This year is all about embellishments. That little added extra something on your pump, boot, sandal, skinny denim, short, jacket, you get the picture. One of the best ways to get this look is with the stud. It's a lot more hardcore than sequins (which is another alternative) and adds that rocker grunge appeal to any outfit. Studs work best on darker colours like black, grey and denim. Be sure to mix with a flash of ditsy floral and you'll have the look totally down packed! Cobalt Cobalt blue was one of those hot ass shades of summer that is hanging around for winter. That dash of electric blue will do wonders for your drab winter warmers. Be unconventional, mix and match with tones of grey, acid wash denim, indigo denims and even some lumo if you're feeling excited. THE RUCHE 'The ruche' sounds like a jazz club in Paris, but in fact it's the fabric detail you just gotta have. Ruched or ruche means 'gather.' It's an easy look to pull off this autumn. Ruching detail can be found in tights, tops and suits the girly girl best. 2010 is all about exaggerated detail and ruching is one of them!

Shoulder pads When this trend first catwalks even the most trained fashionistas were nervous. How would they translate into everyday wear? Well the good news is, easily....they are not as big as the 80's shoulder pads and really just work to define your feminine shape. It adds that touch of glam to your wardrobe and can make the rest of your body look really slim! SWG is totally in love!

Graphic Chic Keep your eyes peeled for this trend that's hitting the streets of New York right now, abstract patterns are making their way back in!

Aviator Shades They are making a huge, big deal, comeback. The trick to understanding sunnie trends is to watch good old trend setter Nicole Richie.  This California girl has her hands on the pulse when it comes to stylish optic UV protection. And lately she has been rocking them aviators. Black are always best but brown and gold gradients will give you that hot vintage feel. Fishnets Fishnets are traditionally reserved to those who hang out on street corners... But this year it's all about a bit of balance. The trick is to wear them with something not ‘a la prostitute'. Wear them under denim shorts, with ankle boots. Wear them with a flirty summer dress and match with your favourite pumps. What's even more exciting is that fishnet stockings are cheap cheap! You gotta love adding extra glam with not a lot of extra budget. It might be a look best saved for next winter but there's no harm in testing it out in the last bit of this year's chilly season.

Nerd goggles When this look first hit the trend radar I didn't think it would last. It first came around with the season launch of Ugly Betty and I figured it would pass but it has gained steam and is one of the coolest ways to looking clever...ever! The trick is definitely a think black frame. Pair up with a cardi, a good pair of skinny denims and accessorise with a stack of books. And as quick as an ad break you're college casual! But for the love of fashion make sure you have the brains to back it all up.
