Are you missing out on enjoying summer time on the beach or at the pool because you aren’t sure about how to handle having your period at the same time? Some of your friends might believe that it’s “dangerous” or “unhealthy” to swim when they’re menstruating, or are too embarrassed to wear a bikini or go out in shorts or a mini skirt. But with a little preparation, there is no reason for you not to continue being your fabulous self during summer!

In your beach or handbag, have an “emergency period pack” or “EPP” so you’re constantly prepared (or can help a friend in need). It should contain:

Remember to replace whatever you use of out of your EPP. If possible, change your tampon when your get out of the water to prevent leaking. Check that the string is tucked inside your cozzie bottom (or cut it a little shorter if you’re very worried about it showing). And don’t worry – unless you tell them, no-one will know you’re having your period! Most likely some of the swimmers and divers at the Olympics were having their periods and still performed like champs. Don’t let your period hold you back from achieving fabulosity!
