Why eco is lekker :-)

Eco-friendly lifestyles are becoming all the rage – but it’s a trend that seems like it’s going to last because of the urgency of conserving our planet. How green are you?Image Courtesy: Julia Wilson-Browne @art.swg.co.za
Everyone seems to be jumping on the eco bandwagon. SA is no different, with new initiatives, green living websites and fashion labels such as Lunar rocking out.
Here’s how to live greener. It’s not only healthier for you but awesome for the planet.
Watch what you do
For the next week take notice of all the things you do that can be harming the environment, such as driving your car everywhere instead of walking when you can; buying too much plastic that ends up thrown in the bin and winding up in landfills; and eating a lot of meat that contributes to CO2 emissions.
Take action!
Start to make small changes to these bad habits so that you can live greener. Here are some ideas:
1. Stop buying so much plastic. Some plastics have health dangers attached to them and it’s not always easy to know exactly which ones are safe versus unhealthy even with the plastic codes. So rather limit your plastic in general.
2. Eat more organic meals. No, they’re not boring! Head to some cool organic restaurants in your area and try out eco meals. You’ll be surprised by how delish they are.
3. Purchase greener clothing. The materials are organic and sustainable, so they’ll last longer than non-eco clothing. This means longer wear without nasty chemicals or dyes. Sounds good to us.
